撒嬌

在網上和朋友交談時，我經常yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…那樣撒嬌。我們主要以英語溝通，當然會加插很多馬來語和華 語。當我yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee的時候，朋友回復一句馬來語Manja！在中文的解釋，manja義近撒 嬌。卻找不到英文的近義。 Affectionate？ Coodle？不近。最後，我提出desperate to be pampered。對了，就是這樣。然後友人傳來網頁The Coxford Singlish Dictionary，裡頭有這樣爆笑的註解：

MANJA
Derived from the Malay word meaning "to pamper", it describes gooey, childlike and coquettish behaviour by women designed to elicit sympathy or pampering by men.
"His girlfriend is damn manja, one. Hear her speak only can kena diabetes."
